Lorena’s expertise in the Latino community stems from her personal, academic and professional experiences. She was born in Latin America but largely raised in the U.S. and intimately understands the challenges facing immigrant families. She attended Harvard University where she received her degree in Hispanic Studies (under the department of Romance Languages and Literature) and delved into the socio-economic, historical and literary experiences of Latin Americans and US Latinos. In her professional life she has been an editor for a bilingual Latino newspaper, has consulted for a variety of projects, from oral histories to documentaries, and has been recruited to offer her cultural insights to corporate and research firms.
